The reason we won't ever go into LPG conversions is because there is already someone out there who are providing a fantastic service.
One of the Director's of Rustmaster bought a low mileage LPG converted Range Rover Classic on eBay last year. In 10,000 miles in 6 months it has never missed a beat and the LPG performed brilliantly - until this week. Travelling at speed on the M25
it started to lose power until he was likely to need to pull over, until that is he pressed the switch that transferred him to petrol at which point it picked up immediately.
Fearing a large bill but even more afraid of the fuel costs of running on petrol he dug out of the full service file the original 2001 LPG certificate. Not expecting much help he rang the number in Thirsk and was very surprised not only to get a warm reception but speak to the fitter who even remembered the car. There and then he was talked through what the likely problem was and how to disassemble the gas cut off solenoid whose plunger rubber was likely to have collapsed thence blocking the supply pipe. The next day he did as told and sure enough the diagnosis was spot on. He rang the fitter to tell him and was again warmly received and told that a replacement, upgraded, rubber would be sent to him free of charge that day.
The company, Autogas 2000 Ltd., based in Thirsk on 01845 523213 www.autogas.co.uk. They deserve this story because service like this deserves recognition, and service and professionalism is something that matters to us at Rustmaster.
Note : Rustmaster exists because one of the founder directors of Rustmaster had his Land Rover "waxoyled" by a long established company and was so unimpressed by the service that he chose to set up Rustmaster with his business
partner on the basis that far from imitating that provider, they would do everything to improve upon it - product, technolgy and not least, service.
